Branch monthly Lunches and Brunches

These are informal, social meetings where any news etc. can be passed on to those attending, and added to the newsletter for others to read.

There will be no brunch in July.  As so many regulars to the brunch are away in July it was decided not to hold it this month but hopefully it will be back to normal in August.

The lunch will be on Tuesday the 25th July. As with the brunches, wives and children and guests also welcome. We do not have the lunch menu at this time but I will email this out to you all as soon as it is available.  Please contact John Cusack to book your place and advise him of your menu choices.   Those with posted newsletters will be able to ring John Cusack for the menu details later on.

Branch News and Messages - Annual Lunch.

I have now paid the hotel bill for our annual lunch. I have also paid a deposit for next year. The true cost including raffle prizes and wine etc was a little over £30 per person. As you will all appreciate the branch subsidised the event this year.

I do hope you all enjoyed the occasion it certainly was a very good meal and value for money. John Cusack

RBL Ferndown

There has been an emergency meeting at the RBL Ferndown.

The club has got into serious debt. However, it seems that a lot of work and action by the committee has for the time being saved the day with cutting costs, more voluntary work by members and renegotiating with suppliers. When the club reopened after lockdown it was losing £1000 a week, this is not the case now.

There is a scheme to get the club out of debt and to get the finances out of the red into the black. They have asked members who are able to donate a lump sum of £500 in return for benefits in the future such as hall-hire, membership fees and free drinks on your birthday etc. It’s a good idea if you can afford it but my guess is that it’s out of the question for most members.

The question is what can we(the REA) do to help the club.

1                    For those of our REA members who are not members of the club to be encouraged to be paid up members.

2                    To donate a sum of money as group the amount to be decided individually and subject to each person’s financial situation. OR

3                    To encourage those wishing to do so to donate as individuals.

We are sure that none of us want to lose the club. We all enjoy meeting up there and hope to do so in the future. We appeal to all members and our ladies.

REA Trip 30/08/2006

This photo was found amongst some old REA records. Many old but not forgotten faces are on this trip in 2006, I’m sure someone can tell us where it went.
