Birthdays of Note

This month we wish a very Happy Birthday to our President, Bert Martin. He will be 90 towards the end of May and we hope he will have a great day, and many more of them. Bert has been an active member of Bournemouth REA from its’ start and was Standard Bearer from 2002, acting as Peter Aldridge’s second, and taking over as sole bearer in 2010. He has also paraded the standard for the British Legion and trained many others in the art. He was given an award by Poole Borough Council for his role as Parade Marshall at the Remembrance Day Memorials.

The AGM on the 8th April was attended by around 20 members. John McDermott resigned as Vice-chairman due to work pressures so this post is now also vacant.  John Cusack and Maurice Pearson are to remain as Treasurer and Chairman as voted by the members.

Message from Ken and Liz Proctor.

Sadly, Liz was taken very ill and admitted to Lymington Hospital. She was so poorly our family from the States and UK came over immediately. Pleased to say she had wonderful care from everybody, and responding to treatments, but it’s clearly taking its toll on both of us, and our family. Liz has just been released from hospital but is still very, very weak, so it will be some time before we have the pleasure of being with you again.

We wish Lily a speedy recovery and send her our best wishes.

Welfare

Phil Webster, who recently suffered a fall at home, and was in Alderney Hospital in Poole, is now convalescing at home. While he was in hospital, Anne had a well-earned rest in a local care home. We hope they are both well now and wish them all the best.
