Group Directors Commendation

Heartiest congratulations to Geoff Lord on being awarded a Group Directors Commendation

Branch Suppers 
The June Branch Meeting was Deana Brown's last appearance as leader of the small band of ladies who prepare at home and serve supper at our meetings. She joined the band in 1998, at which time Cynthia Edwards was the leader. When Cynthia retired in 2000 Deana took on the job of Leader.
Thank you Deana for the wonderful variety of supper menus you devised and Deana was presented with gift vouchers and flowers at the meeting.

Welfare
Geoff Smith has had some time in hospital but has now been discharged George Blubb is still in Wareham hospital.
Tony Meates hopefully will soon be fit enough to come to a Branch meeting

Speakers
The Speaker on Wednesday 19th July will be John Seaton on "Humorous Talks"

Branch Meeting August
The Branch Meeting on Wednesday 18th August will be a Skittles Evening. Supper - Choice of Fish & Chips or Chicken & Chips - £2.00p per head. Please sign list on Table and pay Mike Herbert - TONIGHT. Help needed with setting up and putting away Skittle Alley, etc. Volunteers please contact Mike Herbert.

The Rifles - Freedom Ceremony - Sunday 25th July -1.45 pm - Pier Approach, Bournemouth
The Rifles are to be given The Freedom of Bournemouth in a ceremony to be held at the Pier Approach, Bournemouth.
A section of the Pier Approach Area has been set aside for Ex-Service Veterans who are asked to be in their seats by 1.15 pm. At about 2.15 pm The Rifles will exercise their new Freedom. There is no reserved car parking and any reception is limited to The Rifles.

Informal Lunch Ghurkha Restaurant. Sandford Road, Wareham BH20 7AD - Tuesday 27th July -12 noon for 1230pm.

Visit Chatham Historic Dockyard 2009 - Veterans Refund
A number of Veterans have yet to cash their refund cheques. It would be appreciated if they arranged to do so as soon as possible.

Burton Armed Forces Day - Sunday 20th June
Several members represented the Branch at Burton Armed Forces Day. They had an enjoyable day.

REA SW Group Annual Barbecue - Sunday 18th July
18 members attended this pleasant and well supported Barbecue

Royal Engineers Association - 42nd Annual General Meeting 2010
The 42"d Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday 9th October 2010 in the Victory Services Club, 61/67 Seymour Street, London W2 2HF commencing at 4.00 pm. Will any member desirous of being nominated as the Branch Delegate please contact John Mason asap.

Royal Engineers Association - Annual Dinner 2010
The Annual Dinner will be held on Saturday 9th October 2010 in the Victory Services Club, 61/67 Seymour Street, London W2 2HF at 6.00 pm for 6.30 pm. Tickets £20.00 Members' partners welcome. Any member desirous of attending please contact John Mason asap.

Sapper Sunday
Sapper Sunday will take place on Sunday 10th October at The Royal Hospital Chelsea. All REA members welcome BUT this year due to catering constraints the Curry must be limited to 50 persons. and will be available only to those in possession of an "REA Curry Pass". Attendees at the AGM will have priority in the allocation of Curry passes. Any member desirous of attending please contact John Mason asap.

Annual Battle of Britain Commemoration Service 2010 - 70th Anniversary - Sunday 19th September
A letter has been received from the Royal Air Forces Association, Poole Branch giving advance notice that the above service which will be held at St. James Parish Church. Poole and inviting the Branch to be represented at same. There will be no parade as such. They would like other Ex-Service Associations to parade their Standards.
