‘I attended the VJ day service at the Mountbatten memorial in Poole Park on Friday. It was quite well supported. The Mayor and Mayoress were there. Also the Sherriff and Poole MP. I laid a BL cross alongside the wreaths..in particular memory of Bob Hucklesby...from REA Bournemouth. At midday I went to the short service in the Dolphin Centre...for the 2 minutes silence.’ Also in attendance at Poole were Gillian and John Hurst, and Maurice Pearson paraded the Branch Standard at the service in Ferndown.
