Branch meetings and monthly lunches
The
RBL at Ferndown is having their new floor in the main function hall starting on January 4th,
so the kitchen will be unavailable in January.
We are holding a Saturday morning breakfast meeting, on the second
Saturday of each month, starting at 10am, so that those still working can also
attend. All being well (with no more covid restrictions) the first on will be
on Saturday 12th February. The monthly lunches will continue as usual but will
change to the 4th Tuesday, 22nd February.
A message from John Cusack
We received a phone call from Olive Joiner to say
thank you for the Christmas card she had received from the branch along with a
copy of the December newsletter. Olive
as some of you will remember is the widow of the late Col. Jim Joiner a much
respected and treasured past President.
Jim and Olive always made people feel welcome and are very much missed
by people who knew them. Olive is not
able to attend any of our functions. At
97 and with problems with her eyesight she does not venture out too far these
days. A Happy New Year Olive, you are
very much in our thoughts.
Other Messages
Vice President, Bert Martin, wishes all the members a
Happy, Peaceful and Covid-free New Year. Also wishes were sent for a ‘Felice
Navidad’ and a Happy New Year from Ted Young’s daughter, Irene and Paul, in
Spain.
Bert and Dot have heard from Phil and Anne Webster
who are both now housebound and unable to attend meetings or lunches. We send them our good wishes and hope they
are keeping well.
2021 Xmas Lunch
The RBL Ferndown put on a marvellous spread which was
very well enjoyed by nearly 3 dozen members and guests. Many thanks go to
Maurice and Gill who do all the organising including the wonderful REA themed
table decoration and the raffle and thanks to Zoe at the RBL for always making
us so welcome.
