WE WILL RECOMMENCE  LUNCHES FROM OCTOBER BUT NOT MEETINGS        *** THE BRANCH SENDS GOOD WISHES TO ALL OUR MEMBERS*** PLEASE STAY SAFE AND KEEP IN TOUCH

Newsletter for ‘Keeping in Touch’ October 2020   Please note any news or information for the newsletter to be passed on to Jan Bridle anytime; also if anyone has changed their email address or set up a new one could they please let Jan know.

Branch subs   this year they are reluctantly increased to £17 and are due to be paid to the treasurer now if not already paid. Please send any cheques, made out to REA Bournemouth, to the above address for John Cusack. Thank you to those who have already paid, but there are still many members who have NOT paid their subs. We now have internet banking so anybody wishing to pay on line just ring John or email him on jfp.cusack@hotmail.com and he will give the details.

Branch Meetings   we were hoping to resume Wednesday evening meetings on 21st October but following guidance from REA HQ Chatham this is no longer possible.

Branch Lunches

Many thanks go to Zoe and Lee and the team at Ferndown RBL for doing such a good job under such difficult conditions, and with such good humour!!

However in line with REA HQ policy we are going to try having three lunches next month. The menu will be the same, and there will be a maximum number of 6 at each lunch from the REA. The lunches will run on consecutive Tuesdays on the 3rd, 10th, 17th November. John will attend one of these lunches and Bob said he may well attend one of the others. Needless to say this is only as long as it is necessary and subject to the situation at the time.

Please would those interested either email or phone John Cusack your menu choice and give him your availability as to which Tuesdays you are able to attend. We can’t guarantee to give everybody their first choice of dates.

I hope this is a good compromise. Please be mindful that we must wear masks when entering the club and when moving around and using the WC. Masks are not required once you have sat down nor for those who are unable to cope with a mask due to a respiratory problem such as COPD.

Menu for Tuesdays 3rd, 10th, 17th in November,   ring or email John Cusack to book your place, dates you can attend and choices of menu.    Mains

Roast Beef    Steak Pie            Chicken curry          Homemade Fish Pie           Lasagne

Warm Chicken & Bacon Salad            Any Jacket Potato (£5.00)

Deserts    Ice Cream Sundae           Strawberry & Cream Gateau

Warm Chocolate sponge Pudding   Homemade Apple Crumble

The prices are unconfirmed but expect they will be the same as last month (£7 and £2.50 for desert), but may be cancelled if government advice on eating out changes.

Remembrance Day 2020

The two Bobs will lay the Branch Wreath at Poole, and John Griffiths with Hazel will lay one at Bournemouth. There will be very limited attendance at any of the services.

Welfare

John Griffiths has an electronic copy of the 2020 Benevolence Handbook should anyone wish to see it.

Bob Perry reports that he has been to visit Bob Hucklesby.  He is as well as can be expected, and is getting a new carer next week (24/7) from Liverpool.  He sends his regards to the Branch and allowed him to take the photo. Bob Perry will be taking him to Poole Park on 8th November to lay

a wreath and then hopefully to Southampton on 18th November to a 'Coming home to Southampton' Parade for POWs
