Standard
Bearer Aidan Byrne, our current standard bearer, is moving with
his family to Tenerife for a new life in the
sun. We would like to thank him for his
service to the branch over the last year and wish him and his family farewell
and good luck in their new venture.
This, of course, means that we will need a
new standard bearer and invite anyone who would like to try this out to contact
the secretary John Griffiths.
Monthly
Informal Lunches
As usual
held on the first Tuesday, menu lists on the table at evening meetings. Contact
John Cusack for any information or to book/choose from menu if not at meeting.
Birthdays
of Note This month we wish a very Happy Birthday to John
McDermott who will be 45 on 3rd April.
REA GIBRALTAR WEEKEND 2019 FRI 17 MAY – MON 20 MAY 2019
The Royal Engineers Association (REA) Gibraltar Weekend will be held in
Gibraltar between Fri 17 and Mon 20 May 19. The event will be organised by the
members of the Gibraltar REA Branch and serving Sappers on the Rock. We are
pleased confirm this year’s event is being fully supported by REA HQ and are very
thankful for the kind financial sponsorship given.
Once again, the
Tours have been extracted from the core weekend activities to provide a
slightly more relaxed programme and will be presented as a stand-alone event on
Monday – this reduces the impact of events over the weekend and offers a more
manageable and comfortable experience for our guests.
Parade and March Past. On Sat 18
May, there will be a March through Main Street from Grand Casemates Square up
to Bomb House Lane. We hope that the
Mayor of Gibraltar will be available to take the salute (tbc), and that the
Royal Gibraltar Regiment band will be available for the event. REA Branch
Standards are most welcome, and it would be fantastic if we could improve
further on the 5 Standards that were on parade in 2018. Dress will be REA/Corps Blazer, tie, beret
and medals for the REA attendees.
Travel and Accommodation must be booked separately. More information from:-
