Bert Martin
On Sunday 13th January 2019 at Bovington, Dorset, a presentation of an award and a certificate was made by the British Legion at their Dorset Conference to Mr Bert Martin. He was commended for all the years of hard work, commitment and dedication he has made to the training of Standard Bearers.

George Bubb
His funeral was attended by the Branch Standard and a small Guard of Honour. George had served in Boy Service in Chatham and joined the R.E. in 1941as soon as he was old enough. In an extremely long and varied army career and travelling all over the world George became one of the youngest men to rise through the ranks ending his service as Major Bubb. Living in Wareham he joined REA Bournemouth and enjoyed the meetings and social events until ill-health prevented his attendance, but he still enjoyed visits from branch members.

300 D-Day heroes set to go on VIP anniversary cruise
From the Daily Express
UP TO 300 Normandy veterans will be given VIP treatment on a weeklong cruise to mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings.  Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson yesterday paid tribute to the "breath-taking bravery" of the soldiers who took part in the brutal 1944 campaign. Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines ship MV Boudicca will take the veterans, the youngest of whom is about 92, with a relative or carer, on a round of commemorative events on both sides on the Channel.  In what is likely to be their last major gathering, they will arrive off Normandy in the early hours of June 6 - when they landed to liberate Europe from Nazi tyranny. Commemorative events will include a naval display in Poole Harbour, Dorset on June 4, and a parade along Portsmouth's seafront on June 5, with a flypast of wartime aircraft. The following day they will return to the beaches where they battled ashore under a hail of enemy fire.

From Poole Harbour Commission - As we head into our second cruise season we are honoured that the port has been selected to be part of the Royal British Legion ‘Voyage of Remembrance’ for Normandy Veterans, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day.  MV Boudicca will be at Poole port on 4th June to take part in commemorative events before sailing to Portsmouth and then crossing the English Channel and arriving in Normandy, on 6th June, exactly 75 years after the D-Day Landings.
