RAYMOND JARDINE.
It is with sadness, that we report the passing of Raymond (Ray) Jardine, at the age of 87,
after a long illness.   Corporal Jardine was an Arnhem veteran and in1982 was a founder member of the R.E.A. Bournemouth and District Branch. He was a retired fire officer.
A celebration of Ray’s life was held at Bournemouth Crematorium on Thursday 11th August. 4 Members were at the Service, and Bert Martin paraded the branch standard.
A guard of Honour was mounted by our Members and 8 Members of Ray’s other military association.  We understand that Ray was landed at Arnhem in September 1944 and was captured by German troops, but managed to escape and returned to safety.   A trumpeter sounded the last post.  We extend our sympathy to his wife Phyll and all of his Family and Friends.
