WELFARE
Les Sparshott Is recovering after a fall and Norman Osbourne is in Hospital awaiting an operation.
Our good wishes go to any member or lady who is not well at this time.

Geoff Lord celebrating his 85th on 15th August.

ENTERTAINMENT
Tonight we welcome Rob Curtis with his presentation entitled ‘Dorset Curiosities’.

AUGUST IS OUR SKITLLES EVENING.
with a choice of Fish/Chicken and Chips.
The cost is £2.50 for Members and Ladies, Guests £3.50 List on table tonight for Names and choice of food. Monies will be collected tonight (Correct money would be welcome).
If you cannot attend meetings you can of course contact Peter Piggott.

BRANCH INFORMAL LUNCHES.

The Gurkha Lunch. This takes place on Tuesday 26th July at the Gurkha Restaurant,
Sandford Road, starting at 12 Noon, List on table tonight.

At the July lunch held at Poole Ex/Servicemen’s Club 27 Members and Ladies were present.

Owing to cut backs by the Club, this was the last time that we will be able to have use of the club on a Tuesday. Starting in September the lunches will take place on the first Thursday of the month. Also at the later time of 12.30 pm.

The August Lunch will be held at Ferndown British Legion Club on Tuesday the 2nd,

Starting at 12 Noon List on table tonight. If you are not able to attend meetings you can of course contact Peter. If after booking you should need to cancel please let Peter know

R.E.A. SOUTH WEST GROUP EVENT.

Group Barbecue will be held at 22 Engr Regt, Swinton Barracks, Perham Down, Tidworth.
On Sunday 31st July. Cost is £7 Per Person. Time table is: Arrive 11 00 AM for tea or coffee,
B.B.Q 1PM, Dispersal 4PM. Tonight is the last time that booking and payments can be made

COACH OUTING TO THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION POPPY FACTORY, RICHMOND.


The Social Secretary is planning a day out to the Poppy Factory on THURSDAY NOVEMBER 17TH.

The cost will be £25-50 Per Head to include Lunch. This is a very good price! We need to fill a 42 Seater Coach. Please support him. List on table tonight please enter your names. If you cannot attend meetings please contact, Peter Piggott.



THE PINGAT JASA SERVICE TO MALAYSIA AWARD.

This very attractive Medal in a beautiful presentation box is now available to personnel who served in
Malaya/Malaysia from 31st August 1957 until 12th August 1966, also included is any one who served in Singapore from 31st August 1957 until 9th August 1965. If you qualify for this award please contact: Mr John Simcock, on 0161 2152878 or by E/Mail at jbsimcock@ntlworld.com


MONKEY BUSINESS.
A big thank you must go to Hank Lawrence, for his Oscar winning performance at the June meeting. His supporting role helped Mike Colbourne demonstrate the time and patience needed to educate the animals at Monkey World.

CORPORAL JAMES BEDFORD.
Congratulations go to Cpl James Bedford on the occasion of his presentation by Prince Charles of the Military Cross, which was awarded to him for “Saving life whilst risking his own”,
(Quote according to the citation). Corporal Bedford was commanding a six man Royal Engineer
search team when they were fired upon and two of his men were injured. He sprinted across the
Battlefield in full view of the Taliban Gunmen to save his two comrades .He administered
“life saving First Aid” to the most seriously injured soldier, and directed others to help the
Second Casualty. This happened in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, on 10th June 2010.
He is based at the Royal School of Military Engineering in Chatham.

BICENTENARY OF THE CORPS OF ROYAL ENGINEERS AT CHATHAM AND SAPPER ALE.
The Corps propose marking the bicentenary of the Corps having a station at Chatham with a special
“SAPPER ALE” to be made by Shepherds Neame ( England’s Oldest Brewer) of Faversham Kent
Sapper Ale will be similar to Shepherd Neame’s “Spitfire Ale”. Likely cost is in the region of £20.00
for a pack of 12-- 500 ml bottles. The intention is to make it available for Christmas 2011.
Bournemouth Branch is making a bulk order, and is prepared to sell single bottles.
Your orders are needed as soon as possible--LIST on TABLE.

NOTES FOR YOUR SEPTEMBER DIARY.

The monthly lunch will be held at Poole Ex/Servicemen’s Club on THURSDAY 1st of the month, starting at 12.30 p.m. Our monthly meeting will be a visit from Mike Crankshaw who will tell us all about, “Life on the Royal Yacht”.
