75th Anniversary of V.J. Day 15th August 2020
A celebration of this event will take place in Poole Park, at the Mountbatten Memorial, 10:45 for 11am on Saturday 15th August. The Mayor of Poole will lead the ceremony, however, due to covid19 restrictions, only 30 people may attend.  If there is anyone who believes they should be at the main ceremony please contact the Mayor’s secretary, Carolyn Souter,  or email her
If anyone really wishes to attend, who is not on the Mayor’s list, you may stand at a distance from the main ceremony while maintaining social distancing at all times.  There is very limited parking available in the park so allow plenty of time to walk through from outside the park.
Far Eastern Prisoners Of War Prayer
And we that are left grow old with the years
Remembering the heartache, the pain and the tears
Hoping and praying that never again
Men will sink to such sorrow and shame
The price that was paid we will always remember
Every day, every month, not just in November
We Shall Remember Them
Branch Meetings   it is hope to resume Wednesday evening meetings in October (no buffet) and lunches in September. The lunch would be on the first Tuesday, 1st September 12 noon, and the evening social meeting on Wednesday 21st October 7.30pm. The main bar room and the hall both have plenty of room for us to attend with social distancing and the legion club has all the required safety measures in place for us. Please let us know how many of you are likely to attend these meetings/lunches.

John Talbot    It is with great sadness that we report the death of John Benjamin Talbot on 3rd July 2020 at the age of 88. We send our sincere condolences to his widow, Beryl, and his family and friends. Due to pandemic restrictions the funeral was held with only family and close friends in attendance.

Welfare   Roy Robinson is pleased that he is now able to leave his room at the care home and also to receive visitors in the garden. If anyone would like to visit him please ring the home  to arrange a visit. Use contact form to get phone number.
Allan Grover, our Branch President, has not been well lately and is unlikely to be able to attend meetings for a while so we wish him well and hope he has a speedy recovery.
