Bournemouth Branch REA   --  Memory Lane 1986 – 1998
Having been given (for safe-keeping) back copies of Branch Newsletters by Phil Webster, Peter has been reading through them and here are some of the interesting snippets he has collected for us:-
1986   The branch is now 4 years old, Colonel Jim Joiner is the President and we then met at Boscombe RBL Club.
1988   The cost per member for the Christmas Dinner and Dance was £1 (ladies free of charge).
1992   It was noted that as from 1993 we could no longer use Boscombe RBL Club as the ladies darts team had claimed it on Tuesday nights.
1997   Subscriptions were £3.
1998   Bob Hucklesby receives a Poole Civic Centre Award for Outstanding Service, for leading    the Raglan Housing Association.
Departed Friends      Eric Thurston 1988 – Harold Hardwick 1991 – Ted Plowman 1992
                                    Graham Booth 1998
Social
The Ladies Afternoon Tea on 8th March at Truly's of Westbourne, arranged by Debbie Perry, was a great success with a wonderful spread which would put the Ritz to shame. We had a fun quiz and a tombola, with a lovely donated prize for everyone. The ladies from ‘Ashley’s Birthday Bank’ explained that their charity was raising funds helping underprivileged children and families in the BCP area and supporting the Women’s Refuges, Victims of Human Trafficking, and Mother and Baby Units. Money raised by the tombola was donated to them.

Welfare
On Tuesday 10th March John and Val Cusack very kindly drove Bert and Dot Martin to Salisbury to visit with Roy Robinson who has moved into the Millford House Care Home there. They found him in very good spirits and looking much better. He was very pleased to have this visit and would welcome any more visits from anyone who is able to make the trip to Salisbury.

Next meeting on date 15th April 2020
will be another talk by speaker Mike Randall about his days as a Headmaster. Those of you who came to his talk about being the ‘Son of a Spy’ will remember how entertaining he is.
