Newsletter for Branch meeting on 18th July 2018 - Please note any information for the newsletter to be passed on to Jan Bridle by the last Saturday before the next meeting; also if anyone has changed their email address or set up a new one could they please let Jan know.


Branch subs   remain at £15 and are due to be paid to the treasurer now if not already paid. Please send any cheques, made out to REA Bournemouth, to the above address for John Cusack.

Next meeting on 15th August  will be a Music Quiz

Vacancies    We are pleased to announce that our newest member, Aidan Byrne, has agreed to be our new Standard Bearer.  However a new Social Secretary is still required.

Monthly Informal Lunches
As usual held on the first Tuesday, menu lists on the table at evening meetings. Contact John Cusack for any information or to book/choose from menu if not at meeting.

Birthdays of Note  This month we wish a very Happy Birthday to Gary Hutchings who will be
60 on the 24th July and to Clive Gibbs who will be 80 on the 14th August.

REA Website The new REA website is now live at www.reahq.org.uk and is worth a look at.  Also the REA has now a Facebook page, contact John Griffiths who has a link to it.

Armed Forces Day – Burley   On Saturday 30th June, at the Burley Manor Park, Burley RBL staged a Band Concert and Beating Retreat commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the WW1 Armistice. It was attended by several of our members not least of which was Bob Hucklesby who was the Guest of Honour. On a gloriously sunny afternoon they enjoyed concerts by the Ringwood and Burley Band and the Dolphin Marching Band, a youth band based in Poole.
Armed Forces Day - Poole   On Monday 25th June Bert and Dot Martin, Joan Herbert and Peter and Janet Bridle attended the Parade and Raising of the Flag at Poole Civic Centre for Armed Forces Day, after which there was an Award Ceremony in the Mayor’s Parlour. The Award was given to Bert Martin for his many years’ service to the many of Poole’s Mayors as Parade Marshall at the Annual Remembrance Day Parade. Bert was presented with a magnificent crystal clock with many thanks for his service followed by refreshments in the Mayor’s parlour.

















Home Library Service
 Did you know that if you find it hard to get to your local library they can arrange for books to be delivered to your home free, at regular intervals, by volunteers from the Royal Voluntary Service.
They offer a wide range of fiction and books on country life, cookery, travel, biography and other popular subjects. Large print books, audio books and e-books are also available. Visits are every three weeks and all volunteers always carry identity cards.
