NEWSLETTER SEPT 2015
It is reported
that John Frampton has had a spell
in Hospital after suffering a fall. Our good wishes go to him and all Members
and Ladies who may be unwell at this time.
This month we
celebrate the birthday of JACK FRANCIS who
reaches the age of 95 on
19th September. Jack is our most Senior Member.
We wish him
"Good Health and Many Happy Returns of the Day"
TONIGHT: We look forward to a visit from Julian
Humphries, Speaker from Dorset Police.
This replaces the speaker from the Dorset Fire and Rescue Brigade, who has
called off the booking due for tonight,.
At our Meeting in October on 21st. this will be BINGO NIGHT WITH SUPPER . The cost will be £2.00 per ticket, for which
you will get 6 games of Bingo this will help toward prizes.
The food Menu,
is Fish /Chicken and Chips. John Griffiths is now responsible for
the bookings and monies. He has made
the following arrangements: The Cost of all food is to be £4.70 per
person. This must be booked and paid
for in advance. You will be able select
your food and pay TONIGHT.
The next lunch
will be held on 6th October
at FERNDOWN, ROYAL BRITISH LEGION
CLUB. As all our monthly lunches are
now held at FERNDOWN on the First Tuesday of
each month the November lunch has been arranged for Tuesday 3rd.
Lists on the
table tonight. Don’t forget that if you
are unable to attend meetings and would like to go to our lunches do contact Mike
Herbert 01202 674612
Please let Mike know before Noon on the
Sunday before the Lunch if you need to cancel
as this assists the caterers with food and seating.
The Post of Minute Secretary needs to be
filled. John Griffiths, who is now Branch Secretary needs some
one to take the Minutes as soon as possible, please help.
Newsletter : Mike Herbert reluctantly needs to relinquish his post as Newsletter Editor,
plus the postal and email monthly distribution.
Please consider this position.
Mike will be willing to offer support for a smooth transfer of duties.
Please
supply SAEs or postage stamps to keep the cost of Newsletter distribution down.

MONTHLY RAFFLE PRIZES.
Thank you to
all Members for the many Raffle Prizes that are constantly brought in and
donated. This certainly does help
funds. However, we now have a surplus
stock of books so, please for the time being, we do not need any more. Storage space is very limited. All other items to be used as Prizes will be
most welcome and gratefully accepted.

and Jean Watts, for organising and
running the monthly Raffle.
Note : There is
a book trolley in Ferndown British Legion where books are required.

Ted, D-DAY Veteran. has been honoured to receive the 'Medal of
Remembrance 1945' from the DUTCH Government for the part he played
in the liberation of Holland . After initially landing on Normandy 's
Juno Beach
he later served in Holland
where he suffered shrapnel injuries to his foot, hand and face. He also served in France and Germany . Ted became part of a company that
constructed allied airfields frequently coming under German infantry and air
attack. Our "Congratulations"
go to him.
