Branch News.

Sadly Mrs Cynthia Edwards, Wife of our Vice President Tony, passed away on the 31st October,
Aged 84. Cynthia was bom in Southampton. She and Tony were married for 62 years. They had 3 Children, two Daughters and one Son. She was an ardent supporter of the Association, attending both Branch and District functions, also helping Tony with his various branch posts. Cynthia was also involved in the catering for our branch suppers for many years. The funeral took place on Monday the 15th of November at St. John's Church Broadstone, followed by a burial at Corfe Mullen. Tony and Cynthia met in Egypt where he had been posted and she was serving in the A.T.S. They served together at many locations in the following years.
We extend our condolences to Tony and his family at this sad time.

TONY MEATES
Sadly another recent death has been announced, that of Tony Meates who passed away suddenly from a

heart attack on Saturday the 6th of November, aged 82. This was the day after celebrating his 61st wedding
anniversary. Tony served a full term in the Corps, and retired in 1970 with the rank of W01. During
his career he was a Trade Instructor at Chepstow. He joined the Bournemouth R.E.A. Branch in 1994.
Tony leaves his wife Gwen, and family of 2 Sons and 1 Daughter. The funeral is to be held on Friday
19th of November at St. Mary's Church, Swanage,at 2.30 p.m. We extend our sympathy to Gwen and
all the family at this sad time.

Congratulations:
Go to our Chairman / Secretary John Mason on his wedding to Janet Wilby, which took place at The Emmanuel Church, Billericay, Essex, on the 6th of November. We look forward to meeting and welcoming Janet to our meeting tonight.

Birthday of Note.
Congratulations go to Steve Neville who will be 65 on the 2nd of December

Meetings

Tonight we welcome Lt. Col. Malcolm Torrent with his presentation entitled "Music on Horseback".

The December 15th meeting will be Xmas Party Night.
The entertainment will be provided by Alan Chitty presenting "Magic"

Remembrance Day Parades
The branch was well represented at parades held locally. Peter Aldridge paraded our Standard at Bournemouth where a branch wreath was laid by GeoffLord our Treasurer. In Poole our wreath was laid by Welfare Member, Peter Piggott and Bert Martin one of our Standard Bearers, was Parade Marshal.

Welfare

George Bubb is still in Wareham Hospital awaiting placement into a care home, and Peggy Friberg is doing well after having a complete knee replacement.

Informal lunch- Tuesday 7th December-12 Noon.

This Lunch will be held at Femdown R.B.L. Club and is a 2 course Christmas Lunch, at a cost of £8 per head. Please sign list on table if you plan to attend, and if you find you need to cancel please ring Peter Piggott. A draw will be arranged to give a tip to the catering staff at the club, This is to mark the first anniversary of our lunches there.
The informal lunches still stay popular. There where 19 Members, Ladies and Friends attending
the Gurkha Restaurant, and 23 at the Ex-Service Men's Club in Poole...

Deana Brown has been accepted as an Associate Member of the R.E.A. Having recently stood

down from organising food for our excellent branch suppers.

Notes for your January 2011 Diary.

The January informal lunch will be held at North road Ex-Serviceman's Club, Poole on 4th of thMonth.
The Gurkha Restaurant Lunch will be held on the 25th of January.

Forecast National Event 2011

Note
The Corps weekend to be held on 13th to the 15th May 2011 will this year be held at Chilwell and
Not at Ripon as in previous years.

Expressing respect and esteem, held by the Branch there were 26 members and ladies supporting  Tony at Cynthia's funeral.
