NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2022

Newsletter for  August 2022   Please note any news or information for the newsletter to be passed on to Jan Bridle anytime; also if anyone has changed their email address or set up any new addresses could they please let Jan know. 

 

Branch subs    Subscriptions for 2022 remain at £17 and are due now. Please support the branch by paying the £17 either by internet banking or cheque made out to REA Bournemouth.  For bank account details please contact John Cusack by phone or by email, numbers above. 

 

Branch meetings and monthly lunches  

These are informal, social meetings where any news etc can be passed on to those attending, and added to the newsletter for others to read.  The Saturday morning breakfast/brunch meeting continues on the 2nd Saturday of each month starting at 10.30am. As before please let John Cusack know if you will attend the brunch so we can give the RBL an idea of numbers. 

This month the lunch will be on the 5^th Tuesday, 30^th August. This month’s menu is as follows.

Main Course £7.50  Roast Beef  -  Steak & Kidney Pie  -  Salmon  -  Lasagne -  Ploughmans - any Jacket Potato (£5)

Puddings £3 Ice-cream Sundae  -  Lemon Tart  -  Eclairs & Cream -  Apple Pie

Chatham Visit

This is going ahead in September with 7 members and their wives booked in for the trip. Starting from Ferndown RBL the coach will drive to Brompton, Gillingham, where the first visit will take place at the REA Museum.  Following an overnight stop at the King Charles Hotel opposite the museum the coach will travel to the Historic Dockyard in Chatham to see 3 historic warships –  HMS Gannet (1878), HMS Cavalier (1944) and HMS Ocelot (1962) – a Victorian sloop, a Second

World War Destroyer and a Cold War submarine.  There is also a Ropery, the RNLI Historic Lifeboat Collection, Historic Railway and many exhibitions and galleries.  After lunch at the Dockyard the coach will return the party to Ferndown.
