MERRY XMAS and A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL

Branch News

Birthdays of Note. Congratulations go to John Delaney who will be 60 on the 16th of December
and to Bob Hucklesby who will be 90 on the 3rd of January.

Welfare.
George Bubb is back in his own home, and is being looked after by Wynn his wife. He is now able to get around the house with the help of a Zimmer frame. This is a vast improvement to being reliant on a wheelchair. It is hoped that some home care arrangement can soon be in place.

Events.

Tonight is our Christmas Party Night, with a special buffet laid on by our wonderful catering ladies, led by Peggy (Who celebrates her Birthday Today).
A big round of applause to them for the marvellous work that they do all year round.
Tonight's entertainment is provided by Alan Chitty and is entitled Magic.

Christmas Lunch held at Femdown on December the 7th was a great success with 42 members and ladies in attendance. Our thanks go to all the catering staff at the club for all their hard work, in producing an excellent meal.

January Lunch.
This takes place at North Road Club on the 4th of the month.

The next Gurkha lunch will be held on the 25th of January. Both events start at 12 noon. Please enter names on lists which are on the table tonight. If you need to cancel please let Peter Piggott know.

January Meeting.

At the meeting on January 19th we welcome back Jacky Smith who continues her journey on
Route 66 in the U.S.A

Note for your February 2011 Diary.

The February informal lunch will be held at Femdown British Legion Club on Tuesday the
1st of the. Month.


Tony Meates.
The funeral of Tony took place took place on Friday the 19th of November at


St. Mary s Church, Swanage, followed by a short family service at Poole Crematorium
4 members and 2 ladies where amongst the congregation. Bert Martin paraded our Standard with one other from the British Legion, where Tony was an active member.
A card has been received from Rosemary Bliss ( Gwen Meates's Sister) on behalf of Gwen
thanking the members and ladies who attended Tony's funeral, and also to record her appreciation for the cards and messages of sympathy she has received. Gwen is getting help from her family after the sudden loss of Tony, and hopes to still come to our Gurkha lunches.

Our thanks go to our Chairman John Mason and his Wife Jane, for the wine and cake they

provided to mark the occasion of their marriage in November. We wish them all the best in their
new life together.

National Standard Bearers Competition

The results of this competition have been published in the December edition of The Sapper

Magazine results show that Kevin Rattenbury the South West Group representative was
awarded 2 place.

2011 Branch Subsciptions.

Members are reminded that their Annual Subsciptions are due on 1st of January. Please let the
treasurer Cjeort Lord have payment as soon as possible. The cost is held at £4 00
This fee has remained the same since 2001, so you must agree that it is good value for money.

Some information to our members who travel to the continent of Europe.
Your European Health Insurance Card,(EHIC) was first issued over 5 years ago and may now need renewal You will not receive any notice of this, so it is suggested that you check the card, and renew if required.

Forecast National Event 2011 Note
The Corps weekend to be held on 13th to the 15th May 2011 will this year be held at Chilwell and Not at Kipon as in previous years.
